Iceland holds a special place in my heart; mainly because I did not know how great it really could be.

The Trip of a Lifetime

My family and I traveled to Iceland over the summer and it was first off, surprisingly warm! Yep, warm! We all packed so many layers of heavy-duty clothing which we did not need. It was very pleasant to say the least.

Secondly, the activities we got to do were incredible. Not only the activities themselves, which included dune-sledding, waterfall hiking, boat tour, diamond beach, ice hiking, horseback riding, and the blue lagoon, but the beautiful backdrop landscapes that Iceland had to offer made the trip picture perfect.

Just take a look!

Oh, and did I mention that we saw lava too?!

Yep, hiked to a volcano! This is the type of stuff that is so specific to Iceland and that is what makes it such a memorable experience.

My family and I were very active the entirety of our trip. This made Iceland feel small because it truly felt like we hiked our way across the island. Starting from the sand dunes, into the waterfalls, and lastly through the ice caps, we hiked and experienced some amazing views. Worth it!

My Recommendations

If you are planning a trip to the beautiful country, here are my recommendations..

do a lot! Iceland is a place where you want to be out and about doing all of the nature activities that you can imagine. Hike, bike, climb, drive, wander across the county to your liking but make sure you take in all of the scenery.

Also, make sure to plan your trip according to the weather. I really believe I lucked out because the good weather definitely made it very nice to be outside. Looks at the times of year because the winter gets freezing while the summers tend to be around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lastly, I would recommend that after your fun-filled days, take some time to relax and just sit to enjoy the surroundings. It brings me joy to do this, so sitting in a hot tub after a long day of hiking brings the trip to a whole new height! Happy travels!
